Kerin Kelleher

Ms. Kelleher is the new Harper principal

June 2014

Dear Harper Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I greet you as the new Principal of Harper Junior High School as it enters its’ second decade of serving our community.  As you know, I have served the Harper community this past year as Assistant Principal, which has allowed me to get to know the Harper students, staff, and you, the parents.  I will build upon these relationships to continue the great work that Harper Junior High School is known for throughout the Davis community.  I bring over 30 years of public education experience to my new role.  I have taught elementary school and junior high school.  Prior to becoming the assistant principal at Harper, I was assistant principal at Holmes Junior High.  By nature, I am a culture-builder.  A school needs to maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive culture to be successful.  My job is to make sure that kind of culture is maintained every day at Harper.

My hope is that you know who I am personally and professionally after serving as the Assistant Principal this year.  I encouraged you to approach me to discuss matters of concern for you, your student, and our school.  I will listen, respond in a timely manner, provide answers when I know them, and promise to find answers when I do not know them.

My family and I came to Davis in 1992.  Our two daughters attended Davis schools.  Both as a parent and an educator, I believe in public education and know at my core that all students can and will learn.  My commitment to students achieving is what motivates me to work on their behalf.

It is our responsibility to care for and educate the young people who come to us each day.  Their daily needs, challenges, and dreams are wide and varied.  Through a team approach our students will achieve.  A team approach that includes parents and teachers working side by side will ultimately determine our success as a school, and every student will benefit.  Remember, a team is built on trust.  I will work tirelessly to earn your trust every day.  Over time and experiences, I hope you will learn to trust me that I have your best interests at heart.

My vision for Harper is clear.  We need to continue the great work we have started and look for ways to improve what still needs improving to achieve even greater success.  What I hope you will do is join with me and my staff to do whatever it takes to make success happen every day at Harper Junior High School.

Join with me to make Harper THE BEST SCHOOL in Davis!  Alone, each of us can make a positive difference in our own lives, and the lives of our families.  But together, we can achieve even more.   Together we can achieve greatness.  Please join with me to make success happen every day in the lives of every student at Harper Junior High School.  Go Huskies!

Sincerely,

Kerin Kelleher
